On 05 April 2014 starting at 15:00 CYM will present an Open Day, staging examples of the musical opportunities that are available at the CYM.
Nine BSN students attended a composition workshop through the Centre for Young Musicians with composer Brendan Faegre this September. They created new works based on the theme “The Issues of the Day,” and submitted their pieces to the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble Composition Competition. The results have just been announced and four participants’ works have been selected for the next round: Alexander Atack, Kelly van Eerde, and Dana & Matei Vasile. Congratulations to them, and to all the participants for creating excellent new pieces of music!
While the programmes are still on the WEB site, recordings before January 2011 have been removed from the WEB site. They still can be obtained on request
The Leavers concert celebrated the fantastic musical contributions of ten students who will be leaving this term. They performed for the last time with their ensembles.
There were 23 performances from Chamber groups on that afternoon and the concert was a great success. The choir ended the programme with moving performances of the Armed Man by Karl Jenkins and For The Beauty of the Earth by John Rutter. Many guests commented on the outstanding level of every performance during the afternoon. The students also thanked Ambassador Arkwright for the fantastic opportunities that the British Embassy has provided our students with to perform at prestigious events. We wish our leavers Fiona Bermingham, Abigail Davies, Laura Dunbar, Archana Gopalakrishnan, Christian Hollreiser, St. John Lambert, Elliot Pickens, Nicolas Rivard, Rowan Stobbart and Sammey Tully.
